Job Description The Lead Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Sagamore Spirit operations team. The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for the commissioning, preventative maintenance, and repair of Sagamore Spirit production and facility equipment, boiler operation, and total facility maintenance. The Lead Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safety, appearance, and efficiency of the facility.
Core Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for facility-wide preventative maintenance program to maintain all equipment, mechanical systems, and building requirements, as well as the inventorying of equipment and facility consumables
Responsible for clear and timely direct communications with manager and teammates across all departments
Plays a key role in the development of equipment and facility SOPs and safety policy
Ensures production equipment is functioning properly and safely for all operators
Ensures proper lock-out tag-out procedures for the safe repair or servicing of production and facility equipment
Ensures proper confined space procedures for the safe repair or servicing of vessels
Manages third party equipment vendors and tradespersons as needed for the repair and maintenance of all production and facility equipment
Maintains an inventory of select replacement parts to minimize equipment downtime
Maintains a repair and maintenance operating budget
Maintains maintenance logs and records on all equipment and mechanical systems in a CMMS system
Provides strategic guidance on the acquisition of new equipment and facility improvements or expansions.
Education, Experience, & Qualifications
Most hold active Maryland Grade 4 Stationary Engineer license or be eligible to sit for one.
5 +years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a package manufacturing environment, preferably alcoholic beverage, food or pharmaceuticals.
Certification or accreditation in one or more of the following disciplines: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, machine, welding and or vehicle servicing preferred.
Experience developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program
Mechanical experience with boiler maintenance, HVAC, production cooling equipment, steam piping, pump maintenance, seal replacement
Experience operating in Class 1 Division 1 zones preferred
Electrical experience: 110v, 240v, 480v, motor starters, plc programming
Welding experience: iron steam piping, copper water and compressed air preferred
Equipment experience: pressure vessels, process pumps/agitators, steam/CIP sanitation, grain conveyance and milling, fermentation vessels, column and pot still distillation equipment, process vessels, and packaging equipment preferred
